Alhaji Masawud Osman, the National Third Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a warning. He cautioned operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) against arresting him at home without a court warrant. He stated that such an attempt will face strong resistance.
Osman made these comments on Adwenekasa, a current affairs program on Original TV and FM. He expressed concern about unlawful raids and intimidation by individuals claiming to represent national security. He believes these actions target political opponents and threaten Ghana’s democracy.
“If these unlawful raids continue, I will treat those responsible as criminals,” he declared. Osman emphasized that anyone who invades his home without permission will face serious consequences.
He criticized what he called politically motivated harassment of opposition figures. Osman argued that this behavior undermines legal norms and civil freedoms. “You can’t just abuse people in the name of National Security,” he said.
He described these acts as unjust, undemocratic, and dangerous. Osman also warned the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He accused them of enabling or supporting these harmful actions.
“They should be very careful,” he cautioned. “Ransacking and abusing people will not help our democracy.” Civil society organizations have raised concerns about rising intimidation and warrantless arrests by state actors.
Osman’s remarks have led to calls for transparency and accountability within Ghana’s National Security framework. His warning highlights growing scrutiny over law enforcement practices in relation to democratic governance in Ghana.
