NPP 88 seats; NDC 183 seats; 4 Independent MPs in 9th Parliament, Ablekuma North outstanding

Parliament of Ghana Parliament of Ghana

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured a commanding majority in the upcoming 9th Parliament with 183 seats, after the Electoral Commission (EC) completed the collation of outstanding parliamentary election results, except for the Ablekuma North constituency.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) holds 88 seats, while four independent Members of Parliament-elect, including notable figures like Kwame A Plus, have emerged.

However, the NDC has filed an appeal against the High Court's decision, which ordered the EC to finalize the results for four contentious constituencies: Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North.

The NDC is rejecting the EC's declared results, calling the process "illegal and unlawful" and has instructed its candidates to refrain from participating in the collation.

This legal battle is ongoing as Parliament's first session is set to begin on January 7, 2025.
