NPP MP slams gender-based hiring policy at Women’s Development Bank

Vincent Ekow Assafuah, MP for Old Tafo, has criticized the decision to employ only women at the proposed Women’s Development Bank, describing it as discriminatory.

Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, announced during her vetting that the bank would exclusively employ women to empower female leadership.

Assafuah, however, argued that true empowerment requires inclusivity and urged the government to revise the policy to allow all qualified Ghanaians to contribute.

He proposed a women-led but merit-based framework for the bank, emphasizing the need to uplift women without sidelining men.

Citing the NPP’s inclusive policies like MASLOC and the Affirmative Action Bill, Assafuah warned that divisive policies harm national development and pledged to challenge such measures in Parliament if necessary.
