Eric Nartey Yeboah is the Second Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP). He has called for political parties to unite against illegal mining, known as galamsey.
Mr. Yeboah shared his views on X, formerly Twitter. He emphasized that instead of blaming each other, parties should collaborate to address this issue.
He labeled illegal mining as a national crisis. It requires collective efforts to protect the environment and secure the country's future.
“It’s time we stop the blame game,” he said. “Galamsey is a national issue. Political parties must unite to fight this menace.”
His comments come amid growing public concern over environmental damage from illegal mining. This destruction has severely affected water bodies and farmlands in Ghana.
Mr. Yeboah urged all stakeholders to join forces. This includes political leaders and Civil Society Organizations. They should advocate for sustainable mining practices and stricter enforcement of regulations.
