The New Patriotic Party (NPP) ‘Thank You Tour’ has turned violent. A student from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology was stabbed.
Reports say the victim is linked to Unity Hall (Conti). He was hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times at Bantama. The student was part of the Jama Group hired by Kennedy Agyapong.
Eyewitnesses claim a friend of Agyapong gave money to the group. Gunmen, suspected to be NPP members, then stormed the event and took the money. This led to a fight between the Jama group and the gunmen, resulting in gunshots and one stabbing.
The injured member was taken to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment. It is alleged that he supports Kennedy Agyapong and was stabbed over a disagreement with other party members.
Kennedy Agyapong has filed an official complaint with the Ghana Police Service. The injured supporter is currently receiving medical care. So far, no arrests have been made by police.
Additionally, former NPP presidential hopeful Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko has advised halting the tour. He believes it could further divide the party instead of uniting it.
Agyarko stated that what began as a hopeful initiative is now causing discord within the party. He warned that ongoing issues during the tour threaten its future stability.
