The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has criticized the government. They claim it is wasting money. This is despite promises to keep a lean government. The NPP wants the government to use state funds wisely.
The party highlighted a significant budget allocation. The government has set aside GH¢3.8 billion for the Office of Government Machinery. Out of this, GH¢2.7 billion is for staff salaries.
At a press conference in Accra, they responded to President John Mahama's report on his first 120 days in office. Minority Leader Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin spoke at the event. He urged the government to fulfill its commitments and cut wasteful spending.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin also commented on ministerial positions. He said reducing the number of ministers is just a distraction. It does not address the unchecked growth of the executive branch.
