NPP burnt the house, now want applause for showing up with a cup of water – Fifi Kwetey

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He accused them of being desperate for credit regarding cedi stability.

Kwetey stated that the NPP caused economic problems but now seeks praise. He said, “They want to take credit for recent cedi stability. They forget they caused the collapse.”

He added, “You can’t run away from disaster and return when it looks fixed.” Kwetey compared their actions to burning a house and asking for applause after bringing water.

He pointed out that the NPP ignored negative indicators like inflation and debt. Now that the currency is improving, they want to claim ownership of it.

“If they trusted their economic team, why did they blame others?” he asked. Kwetey emphasized that the NPP created this crisis but now wants credit for recovery.

He called them cowards who benefit from positive developments without taking responsibility. According to him, it’s not gold reserves causing change; it's dollar inflows into the economy.

Kwetey explained that an initiative brought in $2.6 billion within four months. He noted this amount exceeds what cocoa syndication or IMF programs would provide annually.

He dismissed claims from NPP about their policies contributing to recovery. “The NPP didn’t have a gold board or creativity,” he said.

Kwetey reiterated that transformation comes from dollar inflows, not gold reserves. He criticized the NPP for wanting credit while avoiding accountability for issues like galamsey and dumsor.

“They are cowards riding on something positive,” he concluded. Kwetey believes they will remain in opposition until they embrace truth in politics.
