NPP demands accountability after Jennifer Queen threatened on live TV

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned a threat against Ms. Jennifer Oforiwaa Queen. She is the party's Deputy Director of Communications. The threat occurred during a live panel discussion on United Television’s Adekeye Nsroma morning show on April 17, 2025.

According to the NPP's Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah, Mr. Hopeson Yaovi Adorye made the threat. He was a panelist representing the Movement for Change.

The NPP called this threat an unacceptable attack on a woman expressing her views. They stated, “We condemn Mr. Adorye’s actions in no uncertain terms.”

The party highlighted Ghana's progress in promoting women's political participation. They stressed that threats or assaults against women for their views must not be tolerated.

The NPP emphasized the need for tolerance and respect in Ghana’s democracy. They believe free speech should never be limited.

They urged United Television and other media outlets to prevent such behavior on their platforms. The statement read, “This is a democracy; people’s rights to free speech must not be curtailed.”
