Former MP for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has issued a warning. He says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) faces serious internal divisions. These divisions threaten its future as a political force in Ghana.
A 12-member committee investigated the NPP's defeat in the 2024 elections. On April 16, they presented their findings to the party's national leadership. The event took place at Alisa Hotel in Accra. Chairman Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye led the presentation.
On JoyNews' Newsfile on April 19, Mr. Fuseini discussed these issues. He highlighted deep divisions within the NPP. These divisions stem from differing views on former President Akufo-Addo’s legacy and the party's direction after 2024.
He stated, “Your party is clearly facing an existential threat.” Some members blame Nana Akufo-Addo for their electoral losses. Others believe that reviving the party requires embracing his legacy.
Mr. Fuseini described this situation as "confession and avoidance." He urged the NPP to acknowledge its recent failures. Facing hard truths is essential for rebuilding credibility and public trust.
“Admit that you did something wrong so that you can rebuild your party,” he advised.
