NPP gov’t starved District Assemblies of funding; almost collapsed them—Kwakye Ofosu

In a recent statement, Kwakye Ofosu, a spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for severely underfunding district assemblies, claiming this has led to near-collapse of local governance. He highlighted that insufficient financial resources have hampered the ability of these assemblies to deliver essential services and undertake developmental projects in their communities. Ofosu emphasized that the lack of proper funding has created significant challenges for local authorities, resulting in stalled initiatives and unmet needs among citizens. The NDC representative urged the government to prioritize equitable distribution of funds to empower district assemblies, enabling them to effectively serve their constituents. He argued that revitalizing local governance is crucial for fostering community development and addressing pressing social issues. As citizens increasingly demand accountability and action from their leaders, Ofosu's remarks underscore the urgent need for improved fiscal policies that support grassroots administration and enhance public service delivery across the nation.
