NPP has become a label stripped of the soul, values, and principles – Boakye Agarko laments

Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, a former NPP flagbearer hopeful, has spoken out. He believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lost its essence.

Agyarko stated that the party once shared values and purpose. Now, it is fragmented and driven by narrow interests. In his statement titled “Teachings From Our Past: Things We Must Avoid,” he warned about the party straying from its core principles.

He said, “The NPP is at a critical crossroads.” He described it as a label stripped of soul and values. Internal contests have turned into battlegrounds instead of fair selections.

Agyarko urged members to focus on service rather than opportunity-seeking. He emphasized the need to empower all party members.

Meanwhile, Patrick Yaw Boamah, MP for Okaikwei Central, expressed concerns on live radio. He claimed the NPP has become materialistic over time.

Boamah noted that the party used to follow selfless leaders. Now, wealth acquisition is praised among members regardless of how it was obtained.

He mentioned notable past leaders like Professor Adu Boahene and John Kufuor were not wealthy when they started. Boamah stressed that loyalty to elected leaders is essential for upholding party values.

He lamented that many members are now driven by monetary gain instead of true dedication to the party's principles.

Additionally, Prof. Ransford Gyampo from the Ghana Shippers Authority weighed in on this issue. He argued that the NPP must reconnect with its traditions to regain credibility.

Gyampo compared current leaders unfavorably with past figures like B.J. Da Rocha and Peter Ala Adjetey. He insisted that the NPP should promote constructive debate rather than inexperienced individuals pushing divisive agendas.
