Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He called their actions “opportunistic politics.” This follows their call to suspend Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board and NDC's National Communications Officer.
Kwakye Ofosu spoke on Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu. He questioned the sincerity of the NPP’s stance. He suggested their condemnation of Gyamfi lacks credibility. This is due to their own track record in government.
He stated, “The moment the NPP jumps into this, you know they’re just dabbling in opportunistic politics.” He added that they do not believe in the principles they claim to support. According to him, their behavior shows a lack of respect for decency in public office.
Kwakye Ofosu compared this situation to past scandals. He mentioned former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah's case as an example. “They didn’t say anything about $1 million found under her bed,” he noted. He questioned why they suddenly have a voice now.
He believes the NPP’s current position stems from resentment toward Gyamfi. “Sammy Gyamfi is a thorn in their flesh,” he said. He pointed out that Gyamfi was key in efforts to remove them from power. Kwakye Ofosu concluded that it seems they bear a grudge against him.
