NPP has shifted from its values; materialism now the order of the day – Hon Patrick Boamah

Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah, MP for Okaikwei Central, is worried. He believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strayed from its core values.

He says some party members have become too materialistic. This shift does not benefit the party's image or mission.

Boamah recalls that the NPP was once inclusive and humble. He mentioned past leaders like Adu Boahen, Kufuor, Akufo-Addo, and Dr. Bawumia. None of them were billionaires when they led the party.

"We followed selfless leaders," he stated. "Now, wealth seems to determine loyalty in the party."

He noted that Prof. Adu Boahen was a university professor and not wealthy. Similarly, President Kufuor and President Akufo-Addo were not millionaires either.

Dr. Bawumia also wasn't a millionaire when he became a candidate. If elected, everyone should support their leader with resources and strength.

Boamah emphasized that this support should align with the party's values and principles. He expressed concern about the growing materialism within the NPP.

"People are fighting for more money," he said. "This is not what we knew about the NPP."
