Scores of supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday besieged the Kawukudi office of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to demand the release of Mohammed Amadou Zakuo, a party loyalist allegedly arrested over a Facebook post concerning Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

According to sources, Mohammed was picked up by NIB operatives following what authorities consider a sensitive post targeting the Vice President. The arrest sparked outrage among NPP supporters, who described the move as an attempt to silence dissent.

Senior figures within the party, including former NPP General Secretary John Boadu and Greater Accra Regional Chairman Divine Otto, were seen at the NIB premises engaging officials in efforts to secure Mohammed’s release.

Chants and placards demanding justice and calling for respect for freedom of expression filled the air as the crowd gathered in solidarity.

Party insiders have vowed to monitor the case closely, raising questions about the use of state security agencies in handling online commentary and political speech.
