NPP members actively involved in galamsey to disgrace Mahama – A Plus alleges

Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A Plus, is the MP for Gomoa Central. He has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of sabotaging efforts against illegal mining, or galamsey.

A Plus claims that some NPP members have increased galamsey activities since President John Mahama took office. He believes this is an attempt to damage Mahama's reputation.

“After Mahama’s victory, the NPP returned to galamsey sites,” he said. “They want to disgrace Mahama. Those involved in galamsey have intensified their operations.”

He also stated that all galamsey operators are NPP members. They aim to create the impression that Mahama needs more gold for his Goldbod policy.

A Plus mentioned that the NPP has returned with excavators that were previously missing. His comments follow accusations from Richard Ahiagbah, the NPP Director of Communications.

Ahiagbah claimed at a press conference that the NDC has not acted decisively against galamsey. He suggested that some NDC members feel safe engaging in illegal mining under Mahama's administration.
