NPP needs Reconciliation, Unification not Thank You Tour - Osei Adjei

Hon. Akwasi Osei Adjei's Concerns About the NPP

Akwasi Osei Adjei, a former Foreign Affairs Minister, has expressed his worries about the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He feels pain and anger over recent events within the party.

Adjei was unhappy to hear about the Thank You Tour (TYT) led by Dr. Bawumia. He noted that, constitutionally, the National Chairman should lead such initiatives.

He believes the TYT is unnecessary right now. Instead, he thinks the NPP needs reconciliation and unification.

In an interview on Silver FM, Adjei told host William De Bordes that party members must follow the party's constitution. The National Chairman is considered "supreme" and should lead the tour.

He questioned how the TYT was organized and funded. If it is not a party initiative but an individual effort, he believes it should be condemned.

Adjei pointed out that Ghanaians want to see the NPP correct its mistakes. Many voters did not support the party in recent elections. He stated that addressing these issues is more important than a TYT.

He emphasized that the party must analyze Prof. Mike Quaye’s report commissioned by party elders. The NPP needs to apologize to its members and seek their forgiveness for better unity.

According to him, past leaders of the NPP governed with love and unity, not selfish motives. Ghanaians appreciate the NPP for its traditions and values.

Adjei criticized arrogance and monetary practices in elections as detrimental to volunteerism within the party. He urged for reconciliation and suggested removing individuals who promote unhealthy competition.

He believes that acknowledging mistakes is crucial for moving forward. The party should review its election processes based on Prof. Quaye’s recommendations.

Finally, he called for all breakaway factions of the NPP to return to strengthen reconciliation efforts.
