Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued an unreserved apology to Prof. Ransford Gyampo, a lecturer and political analyst.
Mustapha’s retraction comes after previously accusing Prof. Gyampo of conspiring with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to undermine students’ rights through the recent UTAG strike.

Read full articlerelease dated November 1, 2024, Mustapha acknowledged that he had no substantial evidence to support the claims made in his earlier statement. His initial allegations included claims that Prof. Gyampo was leveraging the strike as a political tool for personal gain and hinted at an alleged reputation for unethical conduct.
The retraction was issued after lawyers representing Prof. Gyampo raised concerns about the defamatory nature of Mustapha’s statements.
“Given that I have no evidence to back the allegations I made against Prof Gyampo, I hereby retract and render an unqualified apology to him,” Mustapha stated in the press release.
Mustapha admitted that his remarks about Prof. Gyampo’s professional conduct were unwarranted and damaging. He pledged that the retraction would receive the same prominence as the original press release to correct any misconceptions.
The apology marks an attempt to restore Prof. Gyampo’s reputation after the initial allegations spread across media outlets. Mustapha concluded by urging all media houses that covered the original story to similarly highlight his retraction to ensure the public receives accurate information.
“I am causing this retraction and apology to be published and be given same prominence by all the media outlets that carried the contents of my Press Statement,” Mustapha added.
