Former Subin MP Eugene Boakye Antwi stressed the need for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win the 2028 elections. He shared his views during a recent interview on Metro TV's "Good Morning," which was monitored by MyNewsGh.
Antwi believes the party has a better chance in 2028 than in 2032. President Nana Akufo-Addo, known as “John Mama,” will complete his final term. This means he cannot run again, creating an opportunity for a new candidate.
“If you cannot take advantage of that to win in 2028, we will be in serious trouble,” he warned.
The host raised concerns about the NPP's history of eight-year cycles in power. He noted that the NPP won in 2012 as well.
Eugene replied, “That’s not what the record shows. Evidence was presented in court.” He acknowledged it is possible to win after first terms but emphasized that political dynamics have changed significantly.
He highlighted shifts in political strongholds like Western and Bono regions, where the NPP has lost seats. Even Ashanti is experiencing changes.
“We must move with the times,” he said. “The only way to do that is through unity and a sense of purpose.”
