The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has suggested that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should not seek re-election in 2028, arguing that his candidacy could hinder the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) rebuilding efforts.
According to Dankwah, systemic challenges surrounding Dr. Bawumia played a role in the party’s unexpected 2024 electoral defeat.
Speaking on Metro TV, he emphasized that a voluntary withdrawal would allow the party to regroup without internal conflicts.
Following the NPP’s loss, the party set up a review committee to analyze its performance.
Official Electoral Commission results showed NDC’s John Dramani Mahama winning with 56.55% of the votes, while Dr. Bawumia secured 41.61%.
NPP Chairman Stephen Ntim acknowledged the setback but remained optimistic about the party’s future.
