The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has instructed advertising companies to stop erecting billboards on road medians, citing safety concerns for pedestrians and motorists.
Acting Director General of the NRSA, Abraham Amaliba, stressed that the authority will enforce road safety regulations to prevent such obstructions.
His remarks followed a tour of the East Airport underpass in Accra, prompted by a viral video highlighting the issue.
Amaliba explained that billboards on medians obstruct visibility, making it difficult for road users to detect oncoming vehicles.
He noted that the NRSA will investigate how permits were issued for these structures and ensure their removal if they do not comply with safety standards.
