NSS Scandal: Court strikes out injunction application against Fourth Estate, fines NSA GH₵6,000

An Accra High Court has dismissed an injunction application by the National Service Authority (NSA) seeking to block The Fourth Estate, a project of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), from publishing a corruption investigation.

The NSA withdrew its case, filed earlier through Sam Okudzeto and Associates, prompting the court to strike it out and award a GHC6,000 cost against the NSA.

Lawyers for MFWA, led by Samson Anyenini, called the case a SLAPP suit aimed at delaying the publication.

The Fourth Estate had previously offered the NSA an opportunity to respond to the allegations but received no cooperation.

The investigative report, initially halted by an ex-parte injunction, will now be published.

This ruling underscores the judiciary’s support for press freedom and investigative journalism.
