The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) launched the National Youth Festival 2025 (NNYF2025) today in Accra.
The event attracted student leaders, partner organizations, and media representatives. It aims to be the most inclusive youth festival in Ghana's history.
Key participants included student leaders from various tertiary institutions. Representatives from partner institutions and media members also attended.
Notable government agencies present were the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and National Youth Authority (NYA). The NYA CEO, Hon. Osman Ayariga, was the Special Guest of Honour.
NUGS President Daniel Korley Botchway spoke about NNYF2025's components. He mentioned events for students from basic to tertiary levels.
He highlighted NUGS' commitment to education, entrepreneurship, skills development, climate action, and sports.
President Botchway unveiled exciting event areas for the festival:
- Paint the Future: A beautification project for basic schools.
- A Tree for Every Student: An environmental campaign led by students.
- Career and Education Fairs: Guidance sessions for students at regional and national levels.
- NUGS Sports Fiesta: Inter-school sports competitions.
- NUGS Literafest: A literacy challenge for basic school students.
- National Students Business Challenge: Promoting entrepreneurship among youth.
- Climate Action Campaign: Raising awareness about green practices.
- Innovation and Tech Expo: Showcasing student-led innovations.
- Global Youth Dialogue: Forums on civic education and diplomacy.
Regional Celebrations will occur across all 16 regions from June 1 to July 27, 2025. The National Convocation will take place in Accra from July 28 to August 3, 2025.
The festival will cover all 16 regions with activities on 98 campuses. It will feature over 218 distinct events nationwide.
“NUGS has evolved into a full-spectrum youth development organization,” said President Botchway. He emphasized that NNYF2025 will celebrate talent, innovation, civic consciousness, and national pride.
With this launch, NUGS reaffirms its commitment to youth empowerment and collaboration for national development through active participation.
