The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has suspended its planned demonstration against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) over the withholding and cancellation of 2024 WASSCE results.

Originally scheduled for February 25, the protest aimed to pressure WAEC into releasing affected students' results.

However, NUGS announced the suspension after an emergency meeting with WAEC and the Ghana Education Service (GES), where WAEC assured that all withheld results would be released by March 1, 2025.

The development brings relief to students and parents frustrated over the delays.

Many have accused WAEC of unfairly handling malpractice cases, which led to unnecessary cancellations.

NUGS had earlier demanded immediate transparency from WAEC, emphasizing the impact on students’ academic futures and university admissions.
