The National Youth Authority (NYA) has teamed up with SHAQEXPRESS. They aim to train 1,000 young people each year. The training will focus on electric bike courier and Okada services.
This initiative helps equip Ghana’s youth with valuable skills. It also promotes sustainable transport solutions.
Osman Ayariga, the Acting CEO of NYA, announced the partnership. He stated that this program supports self-employment and entrepreneurship. It offers practical, business-oriented training for young people.
“This initiative will reduce youth unemployment,” Mr. Ayariga said on Facebook. “It will also support Ghana’s shift to cleaner energy.” The goal is to encourage electric bike use and lessen fossil fuel dependence.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with SHAQEXPRESS. This agreement will launch training modules focused on electric bike operations.
Participants will learn how to acquire electric bikes and build businesses around them. This initiative aligns with President John Mahama’s plan to regulate the Okada industry.
Mr. Ayariga noted that the program offers a safer alternative to informal transport services. Many young people currently rely on these for income.
The NYA is open to more partnerships with private sector organizations. They focus on youth empowerment and skills development.
Mr. Ayariga ended his announcement with hashtags: #onGod and #showworking. These reflect his commitment to faith, results, and accountability in leadership.
