Nalerigu/Gambaga MP: Mahama has become a clearing agent within four-months

Nalerigu/Gambaga MP Nurudeen Mohammed Mumuni is disappointed. He criticized President John Dramani Mahama's handling of a dollar gift incident. This incident involves Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board.

On May 15, the Minority submitted petitions to three institutions. They urged the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate. This followed President Mahama's statement that no further action would be taken against Gyamfi.

The President accepted Gyamfi’s public apology and considered the matter resolved. However, he also issued a stern caution in his response.

In an interview on Eyewitness News, Mumuni emphasized the need for an independent investigation. He believes this is crucial for transparency and accountability regarding public office misconduct.

Mumuni stated, “We want Mr. Sammy Gyamfi to be cleared or punished appropriately.” He expected President Mahama to refer the issue for investigation to protect Gyamfi’s reputation. Instead, he claimed that the President has become "the number one clearing agent" in his government.

A viral video showed Sammy Gyamfi giving bundles of U.S. dollars to Patricia Asiedua, known as Nana Agradaa. This incident drew widespread criticism for being inappropriate and showing poor judgment.

In response to this backlash, Gyamfi apologized publicly. He acknowledged his actions as a lapse in judgment and expressed remorse for causing public concern.
