Name and shame them – Ken Ashigbey demands excavator import list

In a recent statement, Ken Ashigbey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, has called for transparency regarding excavator imports in Ghana. He emphasized the need to publicly disclose the names of companies and individuals involved in importing these heavy machinery items. This demand arises from concerns over illegal mining activities that have been detrimental to the environment and local communities.

Ashigbey's call for accountability is rooted in the belief that exposing those responsible for importing excavators will help combat illegal mining practices. He argues that by naming and shaming these entities, it would deter future violations and promote responsible business practices within the industry. The push for transparency aligns with ongoing efforts to address environmental degradation caused by unregulated mining operations.

Furthermore, Ashigbey highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, including government agencies and civil society organizations, to tackle this pressing issue effectively. By working together and ensuring accountability, he believes Ghana can safeguard its natural resources while promoting sustainable development in mining sectors.
