Nana Addo is the main reason for NPP’s humiliating defeat in 2024 – Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed, former General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), blames the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) defeat in 2024 on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In a Facebook post on May 8, Atik said the former president's actions hurt the party. He referenced a memo by Kwabena Adu Boabenhene to support his claims.

Atik suggested that Nana Addo prioritized national stability over party loyalty. This, he argued, indirectly empowered the opposition.

He wrote, “If Kwabena Adu Boabenhene’s memo is any indication, it implies Nana Addo was superintending over the empowerment of the opposition ostensibly to ensure stability.”

Atik also criticized Nana Addo for shifting blame onto party candidates. He mentioned that this included religious insinuations about their losses.

“And yet, [he] turns around to accuse candidates of losing because of religion,” Atik lamented. He called this commentary divisive and hypocritical given the president’s influence.

In conclusion, Atik urged Ghanaians to assess leadership roles in political outcomes.

“Like I always say, Nana Addo is the main reason for the defeat of the NPP,” he stated. “If you are looking for what caused the NPP’s humiliation in 2024, look no further than Nana Addo.”
