Nana Akonnor Bekai Ababio V vows to support the transformation of Akwamu

Akwamufie celebrated a significant event on April 10, 2025. Nana Akonnor Bekai Ababio V, also known as Aaron Kwabena Packeys, was installed as Osomanyawa. This position is the Chief Administrator and second-in-command of Akwamu State. His installation ended a 13-year vacancy in this powerful traditional role.

The ceremony took place at the Bogyawe Palace in Asuogyaman District. It showcased rich cultural heritage and traditions. Nana Bekai also holds titles such as Ayokohene and Mankrado of Akwamuman. During the rituals, the “Afua” sword was laid down ceremonially. The Akwamuhene stepped on it three times before handing it to Nana Bekai. This act symbolized the transfer of power and authority to him.

Nana Akonnor Bekai Ababio V led his entourage with traditional drums playing Atumpan and Fontomfrom. They danced joyfully, raising the Fontomfrom high as a gesture of loyalty and respect.

Observers noted that this moment was deeply symbolic. They emphasized that it represented loyalty, honesty, obedience, and reverence.
