Ghana’s Naomi Oyoe Ohene Oti is a top 10 finalist for the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award. This award received over 100,000 applications from 199 countries. The finalists were chosen through a careful evaluation process by an expert jury and Grand Jury panel. Ernst & Young LLP independently moderated this process.
The award honors exceptional contributions to global healthcare by nurses. Naomi is a pioneering oncology nurse leader known for her work in cancer care, research, and education across Africa. She helped launch Ghana’s formal oncology nurse training program. This program has produced over 60 oncology specialists and 10 breast care nurses.
Naomi serves on the Education and Training Committee for the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC). She is also a co-investigator on the Global Bridges Oncology Grant. Her efforts have influenced nursing standards and policies throughout Africa.
Through mentorship, she has shaped the careers of more than 48 nurses from various African countries. Her innovative work in nurse-led education and research strengthens nursing's role in Africa’s cancer response efforts.
