Former Auditor-General, Daniel Yao Domelovo, has urged the current Auditor-General to investigate the use of funds allocated for the National Cathedral project and surcharge individuals if any breaches are found.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Newsnight on November 25, Domelovo supported the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice’s (CHRAJ) call for a forensic audit into the project’s finances.
This follows a complaint by MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa about discrepancies in the project and concerns over GH₵2.6 million transferred to one of the construction firms.
Domelovo stressed that public funds must be used according to constitutional provisions and laws.
He called for accountability from the Ministry of Finance and the project’s trustees, stating that any legal breaches should be addressed, regardless of the individuals involved.
