National Cathedral: We didn’t communicate properly about the project – Miracles Aboagye

The future of Ghana’s National Cathedral is in limbo despite over GHC 339 million spent, with the project still at its foundation stage.

Initially touted as privately funded, it later emerged that state funds were used, sparking public backlash and allegations of embezzlement.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, blamed the controversies on poor government communication. He argued that transparency about using state funds for initial site preparations could have avoided mistrust.

Critics have used the missteps to challenge the project’s integrity.

The Cathedral, a promise by President Akufo-Addo to God before the 2016 elections, is estimated to cost over $100 million.

CHRAJ has recommended a forensic audit to investigate alleged financial mismanagement and prosecute those responsible.
