National Chief Imam calls for  de-escalation, reconciliation, unification in Bawku

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh (Dr) Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has condemned recent violence in Bawku.

He denounced the arson attack on a police station. He also condemned the killing of peacekeeping personnel.

Sheikh Sharubutu criticized the shooting at the Inspector General of Police's vehicle. He called it an "assault on the authority of the state." Such behavior is unacceptable in democratic societies.

A statement from Dr Mohammed Marzuq Abubakari Azindoo, his Personal Assistant, conveyed these messages.

Sheikh Sharubutu urged factions in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict to “silence the guns.” He called for a return to normalcy in the area.
