National Security’s invitation of a Journalist for doing his work condemnable – Sulemana Braimah

Sulemana Braimah, the executive director of the Media Foundation of West Africa, has raised concerns. He questions why National Security invited a journalist over a story about ECG containers.

Braimah believes the National Security Secretariat should not act as a media tribunal. He urges journalists to be bold and professional in their work. They must hold the government accountable to Ghanaians, as required by the Constitution.

He emphasizes that issues surrounding ECG containers are important. Journalists should inform the public about actions taken by both past and current governments.

"The ECG containers issue deserves serious focus from all media houses," he stated. "Ghanaians need to know what happened under previous leadership and what is happening now."

In his statement, Braimah expressed shock at National Security's actions. A journalist named Prosper Agbeyega was questioned about his story on ECG containers. The story involved a leaked document from National Security.

Braimah insists that this matter is of significant national interest. He argues that the government's Resetting Ghana agenda should not intimidate journalists or citizens through National Security.

The role of National Security does not include questioning journalists about their sources or methods. There are constitutional ways to address concerns regarding journalism, which do not involve intimidation.

He calls on media professionals to remain committed and courageous in their duties. No officials should think they can intimidate journalists into supporting the government uncritically.
