James Agalga is the Chairman of the Defence Committee in Parliament. He is also the MP for Builsa North. Recently, he defended the National Security's performance. He urged the Minority in Parliament to commend their efforts instead of criticizing them.
His comments followed concerns from the Minority. They believe drug trafficking and money laundering are increasing. This comes just three months after the NPP handed power to the NDC. The Minority highlighted an unresolved raid on 12 containers of gold and cash at Sapeiman in Accra.
They criticized National Security for not updating the public on investigations. This lack of transparency raises doubts about security agencies' effectiveness against crime.
On Eyewitness News, Agalga dismissed these criticisms. He stated that National Security has shown effectiveness in fighting crime. He warned that such criticism could demoralize hardworking security personnel.
Agalga emphasized that we should recognize National Security's successes. For example, they intercepted a tipper truck carrying cocaine worth $350 million headed for Accra. He expressed shock at calls to criticize them over this success.
He believes this type of criticism harms nation-building efforts. When operatives demonstrate their capability, they deserve congratulations, not condemnation. Agalga remains confident that under their watch, cocaine trafficking will face serious challenges in Ghana.
