National Security operatives past and present meeting with Mahama over Adu Boahene’s case – Adom Otchere

Paul Adom Otchere, host of Good Evening Ghana, has made an allegation. He claims that high-profile National Security operatives are meeting President John Dramani Mahama. This meeting is about the Adu Boahene case.

Adom Otchere stated that these security chiefs are unhappy with the case being public. He mentioned on his show, “We understand there is a meeting today or tomorrow.” The operatives want to share their thoughts with the president.

He noted that this situation could significantly impact the trial of Kwabena Adu Boahene. However, he promised to provide more information later. Some attendees at the meeting belong to Mahama's party, while others do not.

Adom Otchere expressed concern over media coverage of the case. He said they have received calls from Nigerians mocking Ghana’s situation. They questioned why social media is focused on issues like cars bought for the former president.

Recently, Adu Boahene's legal team revealed details about the alleged theft of ¢49 million. He claimed that GHC5.1 million was used to buy three vehicles for President Mahama. These included a 2024 Nissan Patrol Platinum and a 2022 Land Cruiser GXR.

Adu Boahene also alleged that GHC960,000 was paid to members of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee. This payment aimed to expedite the passage of the National Signals Bureau Act (2020).

Additionally, he accused an opposition party of receiving GHS 8.3 million from stolen funds for election support.

Currently, Adu Boahene has been remanded by an Accra High Court for seven working days. The court wants time for Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine to prepare witness statements. He will be held in custody by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) during this period.

President Mahama is set to meet with both current and former national security heads regarding this case.
