Hajia Rashida Mahama is the Head of Monitoring and Intelligence at the National Security Secretariat. She has issued a strong warning to axle weight station officials. They must stop corrupt practices immediately or face prosecution.
This warning came during an escort operation with cargo trucks. Hajia Mahama and her team were helping trucks travel from Ghana to the Togo border. This was in response to a safety request from a logistics company.
Along the route, she found serious irregularities at several weighing stations. Some officials were inflating cargo weights to extort money from drivers. Others were allegedly colluding with companies to skip the weighing process entirely.
"This conduct is unacceptable and deeply troubling," said Hajia Mahama. She noted that this corruption deprives the state of millions of Cedis for infrastructure projects.
She also expressed concern about trucks parked haphazardly on highways. This poses a major safety risk, she warned. Any truck parked in an unauthorized location will be towed, and drivers will face penalties.
Hajia Mahama emphasized the government's commitment to fighting corruption in transport and logistics. She urged all stakeholders to maintain integrity and prioritize national interest.
