The Staff Union of the National Service Authority (NSA) has raised concerns. They are under the National Service Authority Staff Union (NASASU). The Union condemned attempts by political party foot soldiers to interfere with NSA operations.
In a press release dated April 11, 2025, NASASU Chairman Ayirebi Adubofour signed the statement. The Union is worried about increasing political interference in staff recruitment and transfers.
They warned that this interference undermines democracy and erodes public trust. It also compromises the integrity of state institutions.
“We strongly condemn political party foot soldiers trying to hijack the NSA,” the release stated. This practice damages democracy and public trust while harming institutional integrity.
The Union emphasized that all recruitment and transfers follow specific laws. These include the National Service Authority Act 2024, Public Services Commission Act 1994, and Article 195 of the 1992 Constitution.
NASASU urged Western Region youth to exercise restraint amid rising tensions. They want Management to operate within legal boundaries. The Union also called for strict adherence to legal frameworks to maintain NSA's integrity.
Additionally, NASASU appealed to the government for protection against political influence. They advised political parties not to use NSA for partisan purposes.
The statement concluded by asserting that NSA must remain independent and professional. All stakeholders should respect its legal status and responsibilities.
