National buffer stock is not being used due to politicisation – Godfred Jasaw

Godfred Seidu Jasaw, Deputy Ranking Member on the Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs Committee, has criticized the underutilization of the National Food Buffer Stock Company, attributing it to political interference rather than its intended agricultural support role.

Speaking on JoyNews, Jasaw highlighted that the Buffer Stock's primary function is to stabilize commodity prices and support farmers by purchasing excess produce, not solely to aid the school feeding program.

He criticized the organization for failing to set proper commodity prices or buy
surplus food, which undermines its effectiveness and risks food insecurity.

Jasaw called for a focus on addressing these practical issues rather than political disputes.
