National security operatives raid Maxwell Kofi Jumah’s home over state vehicles

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Ghana's national security operatives conducted a surprise operation. They targeted the residence of Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries. The goal was to retrieve state-owned vehicles still in his possession.

The operation began around 5:00 a.m. Mr. Jumah was reportedly not at home during this time.

He is under investigation for alleged financial impropriety from his tenure at GIHOC. This investigation focuses on the purchase of a high-end Genesis G90 saloon car. The car was initially valued at over $100,000.

A letter from the GIHOC Board dated August 1, 2019, approved Mr. Jumah’s vehicle purchase under his Conditions of Service. However, documents show he bought it for just 5% of its value—GHS 4,943.
