Nearly GH¢1bn released to District Assemblies for Q1 - Finance Minister

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced a fund allocation.

The District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) will receive GH¢987,965,730.

This is the first-quarter allocation for 2025.

He addressed Parliament on Tuesday, June 3.

The transfer occurred on Monday, June 2, from the Consolidated Fund.

Dr. Forson emphasized the government's commitment to decentralization and local governance.

He stated that the DACF has received the funds as of yesterday.

“GH¢987,965,730 has been transferred from the Consolidated Fund,” he told lawmakers.

He highlighted that 80 percent of this amount must go to district assemblies promptly.

“The DACF Administrator must ensure this transfer occurs without fail.”

Expenditure returns are required before any further releases are made.

Dr. Forson urged Members of Parliament to monitor fund usage in their constituencies.

“MPs should ensure accountability and adherence to spending guidelines,” he added.

This aligns with directives approved by President John Dramani Mahama's cabinet.
