Retired Commissioner of Police (COP) George Alex Mensah has called on newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno to address long-standing concerns over officer promotions within the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking on JoyNews, COP Mensah alleged that under former IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, promotions were unfairly awarded, leaving many qualified officers stagnated.
He urged the new IGP to ensure fairness and transparency in the promotion process, warning that unresolved grievances could affect morale within the service.
Some aggrieved officers have already taken legal action over alleged biased promotions.
COP Mensah expressed confidence in IGP Yohuno’s leadership, stating, “I know Yohuno will do that, I trust him.”
