The new Board of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) visited the Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The visit took place at the Manhyia Palace.
Chairman Nana Prof Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II led the delegation. They introduced the new Board members, including Acting CEO Dr. Paa Kwasi Baidoo. The purpose was to seek royal blessings for their tenure.
Prof Boachie-Adjei Woahene II assured His Majesty of their commitment. He stated that the 11-member Board aims to make KATH a world-class facility. This year marks KATH's 70th anniversary.
Acting CEO Dr. Baidoo has worked at KATH for 20 years. He expressed eagerness to enhance specialist services at the hospital. He requested assistance from the Asantehene with pressing challenges.
One challenge is funding for the Maternity and Children’s Block project. This project is crucial for reducing congestion at KATH. Dr. Baidoo also sought support for staff accommodation near the hospital.
He noted that some specialists live outside the city due to housing issues. This situation delays their response to emergencies, which needs urgent attention.
His Majesty urged the Board to work together effectively. He emphasized their role in supporting hospital management daily operations. KATH is vital as it serves as a tertiary healthcare facility in central Ghana.
He advised them to optimize Internally Generated Funds while awaiting external support. His Majesty also mentioned his Heal Komfo Anokye Project (HeKAP).
He tasked Dr. Baidoo with leading its implementation for improved services at KATH.
