Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo - Acting CEO of KATH

Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo is the new Acting Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). He aims to enhance the hospital's capacity to meet client expectations.

Dr. Baidoo has no personal agenda in his new role. He stated, “I have not come to inherit anybody’s friends or enemies.” He is ready to work with all stakeholders for the benefit of the hospital and the country.

Before this appointment, Dr. Baidoo was a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. He led the Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate at KATH. He also chaired the Ashanti Regional division of the Ghana Medical Association.

He succeeds Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, who served as CEO from December 2022 to April 2025. At his first meeting with management, he emphasized teamwork and collaboration.

Dr. Baidoo plans an open-door administration to strengthen hospital operations. He believes in advancing KATH’s mission as a center for excellence in healthcare, training, and research.

His management team warmly welcomed him during their meeting. Directors pledged their full support for his tenure as CEO.

The meeting included a presentation on KATH's current state and challenges. This briefing aimed to improve specialist services for the public.

Dr. Baidoo also met with staff from the General Administration Unit. This group supports central management at KATH and fosters strong working relationships.

He expressed gratitude for their warm reception since he took office. Teamwork is essential for delivering quality healthcare services, he noted.

Staff members are encouraged to submit suggestions for improving hospital operations. Mr. Atta Tweneboah Jnr., head of the unit, welcomed Dr. Baidoo on behalf of staff members.

He stated, “We look forward to fruitful collaboration and support your vision for KATH.” Staff introduced themselves and expressed optimism about Dr. Baidoo's leadership style, describing him as affable and open to dialogue.
