Courage Makafui Nunekpeku is the new Managing Director of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC). He has discovered a questionable land transaction involving people linked to Ofori-Atta's family. This revelation came after an internal audit he initiated upon taking office.
The audit found irregularities in land allocations made by his predecessor, Alice Abena Ofori-Atta. This has led to calls for further investigation into these transactions. During a press briefing in Tema, Mr. Nunekpeku confirmed that some lands in Community 24 were sold to individuals connected to the Ofori-Atta family.
He raised serious concerns about potential abuse of office. Additionally, he revealed that several plots were allocated to fictitious entities or "ghost" companies. These findings have been referred to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for a full-scale investigation.
Mr. Nunekpeku also received a formal petition from TDC's senior and junior staff unions. The petition addressed unauthorized sales of lands meant for staff housing projects. He assured employees that their concerns are being taken seriously and vowed to recover all affected lands.
"We are taking necessary steps to right these wrongs," he stated. "Staff welfare and transparency will be key priorities during my tenure."
This development marks a strong start for Mr. Nunekpeku as he aims to restore accountability at TDC and protect public assets.
