New Voter Forum demands reversal of NHIS appointment in Volta Region

The New Voter Forum (NVF) supports the Volta Renaissance Forum’s petition. They are urging President John Dramani Mahama to address the neglect of Volta-based NDC members. This includes executives, activists, and financiers in recent political appointments.

At a press conference in Ho, Convener Edmond Amos Ameamu criticized the government. He said it has sidelined key NDC supporters who helped win the 2024 election. While some individuals from Volta received appointments, he noted they lack connections to the party.

Mr. Ameamu echoed calls for President Mahama to prioritize loyal party members. He emphasized that these members should have strong grassroots ties. “We believe the Petitioners have a strong case,” he stated.

The NVF also criticized the appointment of an outsider as Acting Regional Director of NHIS. They called this a “bogus appointment” and a “betrayal of trust.” The group questioned the appointee’s loyalty to the NDC, suggesting she is closer to the opposition NPP.

They warned that such actions could deepen voter apathy in Volta Region. This area is traditionally an NDC stronghold and vital for upcoming elections. The NVF urged leadership to act quickly, citing NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah's call for unity over positions.
