Nii Ashitei Ashietey champions Ghana’s digital youth revolution

Nii Ashitei Ashietey is a Ghanaian tech professional. He advocates for public sector reform and youth empowerment. His focus is on using technology and innovation to help young Ghanaians.

Currently, he works as a Senior Data Analytics Engineer in the U.S. He spent nearly ten years in Ghana’s public sector with SSNIT. There, he promoted data literacy and trained employers on social security protocols.

Ashietey has roots in Teshie, Osu, and Big Ada. He believes his global success should benefit these communities. “I never left Ghana behind,” he said. “Everything I’m learning globally is for home.”

He plans to launch an ICT and Data Analytics Lab in Osu soon. This lab will be free and community-driven. It aims to teach coding, data analytics, and digital entrepreneurship to local youth.

“The lab will provide training, mentorship, job readiness, and startup support,” Ashietey explained. “It’s about turning potential into power for young people.”

He supports President John Mahama’s 1 Million Coders Program. This initiative aims to boost digital literacy across Ghana. However, he emphasizes the need for sustainable support systems around it.

“Ghana’s youth need ecosystems, not just opportunities,” he stated. “We must build confidence and community beyond coding bootcamps.”

Using tools like Python and SQL, Ashietey designs impactful data solutions worldwide. Still, his main focus remains on Ghana's development through public-private partnerships.

He urges corporate Ghana, educators, and partners to collaborate effectively now. “This is how we build a generation of value creators,” he said. “Not just job seekers or dreamers — but doers.”
