Nine injured in Adum fire outbreak – National Ambulance Service

A devastating fire outbreak at Adum, the commercial hub of Kumasi, has left nine people injured, with several others traumatized.

The blaze, which erupted in the early hours of Friday, March 21, destroyed multiple shops and properties.

The congested nature of the market made firefighting efforts difficult, according to Ashanti Regional Fire Commander ACFO II Peter Tetteh.

Firefighters faced challenges accessing the scene, allowing the flames to spread rapidly.

As shop owners scrambled to salvage their goods, the National Ambulance Service responded to several casualties.

Ashanti Regional Manager Sommik Duut Millon confirmed that some victims suffered panic attacks, while three firefighters sustained injuries.

“We transported the injured to Manhyia and Komfo Anokye hospitals. Some have already been discharged, while others are responding well to treatment,” he said.
