The Nissan Navara is now Ghana’s favorite pickup. It is quickly becoming an African icon.
Nissan's “Built for Africa” philosophy resonates across the continent. Instead of resting on its success, Nissan is expanding into Egypt. This market has been dominated by the Chevy K-Series, a rebadged Isuzu D-Max. They are launching a new variant: the Navara Pro-4X Warrior.
The Pro-4X Warrior was developed with Australian off-road specialists Premcar. It enhances the already-capable Pro-4X model. The Warrior is bolder, tougher, and more adventure-ready than ever.
Maciej Klenkiewicz, Managing Director of Nissan South Africa, stated that the Warrior is engineered for severe driving conditions. He believes there’s no better place to prove its capabilities than in Africa.
What makes the Warrior special?
The Warrior has more muscle than the Pro-4X. Key features include:
- Increased ground clearance
- Upgraded off-road suspension
- Heavy-duty bash plate
- High-performance Dunlop all-terrain tires
- Tougher body cladding and “Warrior” decals
- Sports bar and integrated tow bar
- Leather seats with “Pro-4X” and “Warrior” embroidery
- Wider track and reinforced underbody
It retains a 2.5L DDTi turbo-diesel engine producing 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque.
The Warrior was tested at the 2025 Spirit of Africa Trophy Challenge in Gauteng, South Africa. This event features tough off-road scenarios that challenge purpose-built vehicles.
This year’s edition included 16 challenges, with 13 completed successfully. The tests evaluated traction, articulation, ground clearance, gearing, and electronic assists. Despite many participants being novices, the Navara Warriors had no breakdowns or mechanical failures.
Remarkably, the Warrior combines ruggedness with comfort. Drivers enjoyed leather-clad cabins while tackling mud and steep inclines confidently. Its agility inspired trust during challenging terrain despite a slightly lazy throttle response at high speeds.
When can you get one?
Soon! The first batch of Navara Pro-4X Warriors is on its way to customers. Owners will receive their vehicles in just a few weeks.
If you’ve wondered whether the Navara can perform well off-road, the Warrior proves it effortlessly in the Nissan Spirit Of Africa Trophy.
