Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the NPP flagbearer for the 2024 elections. He spoke to large crowds during his thank you tour in the Western Region. He told supporters that the party learned from its defeat last December.
Bawumia expressed confidence that the NPP would recover. He believes leadership will rebuild trust with Ghanaians before the next elections. “We have learned our lessons as a party, and we will correct ourselves,” he said.
He emphasized that the NPP is committed to its core values. The party will work hard to address voters' concerns. Acknowledging past mistakes is crucial for renewal and progress.
Bawumia called for unity among party members. He urged them to support leadership as they move forward. “This is not a time for blame, but a time for reflection,” he stated.
He pledged that the NPP would listen to Ghanaians and fulfill its promises. Bawumia reflected on the party’s record in government, noting both successes and failures. “We had a solid record of achievements, but not everything went right,” he admitted.
He highlighted key successes like digitalization and infrastructure development. Bawumia expressed pride in how the NPP transformed lives in Ghana. “The evidence of our progress can be seen in every sector,” he noted.
However, he acknowledged some unmet aspirations despite their efforts. “We are not perfect, and no government is,” he told supporters. He pointed out challenges like COVID-19 and global economic pressures affecting development speed.
Despite these challenges, Bawumia reassured supporters of the NPP's commitment to service and innovation.
