Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the NPP flagbearer for the 2024 elections. He spoke to large crowds during his thank you tour in the Western Region.
Bawumia told supporters that the party learned from its defeat last December. He expressed confidence that the NPP would bounce back. He believes leadership will rebuild trust with Ghanaians before the next elections.
“We have learned our lessons as a party,” he said. “We will correct ourselves.” Bawumia emphasized that the NPP is committed to its core values. The party will work hard to address voter concerns.
He called for unity among members of the party. “This is not a time for blame,” he stated. Instead, it’s a time for reflection and renewed energy. He pledged that the NPP would listen to Ghanaians and fulfill its promises.
Bawumia reflected on the party's record in government, noting both successes and failures. “We had a solid record of achievements,” he said, but acknowledged not everything went right. He highlighted advancements in digitalization, infrastructure, and economic reforms.
He expressed pride in how the NPP transformed lives in Ghana. “The evidence of our progress can be seen in every sector,” he noted. However, he admitted some aspirations remained unmet due to governance challenges.
“We are not perfect, and no government is,” Dr. Bawumia told supporters. He pointed out that COVID-19 and global economic pressures slowed development efforts. Still, he reassured party members of their commitment to service and innovation.
